Last weekend Luke and I went for a whirlwind trip to Minnesota to hammer out some wedding details and meet my baby niece and both our God Daughter, Adriana Sailor (born April 10!)
We flew out on Thursday evening on our usual jam-packed 8pm Continental Express flight (not only uncomfortable but no food and bumpy as hell- the only benefit is it’s the cheapest). Ben picked us up at the airport and we just relaxed for a bit at home with Ben, Mom, and Dad before hitting the hay in preparation for the long day ahead of us.
Friday morning Mom, Luke and I started off the day of appointments at our ceremony site- the Black Bear Pavilion on Como Lake in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I used to frequent the lake to go running or rollerblading, then when Luke and I were dating we would go on walks there (one time we brought Martigan, who also enjoyed it greatly!) We both love the place so much and it is so beautiful, we knew we wanted to get married there.
After that, we had an appointment with the events coordinator at our reception site, the Shoreview Hilton Garden Inn. I couldn’t believe how incredibly helpful they were- I know it will be a fantastic night! We also found out that our DJ had played there before and done an amazing job, so that was really good to know.
On to downtown Saint Paul… We now are licensed to wed!
Lunch at Jimmy John’s (of course) then to the Roseville Bakery where we tasted the Red Velvet (ahhhh-maaazing) and ordered our custom designed wedding cake! (It’s going to be awesome… I can tell you that much!
We spent the rest of the afternoon cooing over the 5-day old baby & playing with 2 1/2 year old Honor.
On Saturday Luke and I headed over to my Grandpa and Grandma’s house for lunch and wedding talk. My Grandpa will perform the wedding ceremony for us, which I am completely psyched about! We got a good start in planning out the ceremony and a little bit of homework for additional planning, and also received some great tips about longevity in marriage- “Sometimes you’ll hate each other!”
I will leave you with a bunch of cute pictures!
